The F-111 was interesting mix of mission capabilities. It was a tactical strike aircraft, a strategic bomber, a reconnaissance platform and an electronic warfare aircraft. It was the first military aircraft to have variable geometry wings and terrain following radar. The F-111 and its variants were in continuous service with the U.S.A.F. from 1967 to 1998. This F-111 is from the 48th Tactical Fighter Wing, 493rd Tactical Fighter Squadron known as the “Grim Reapers”. This unit took part in Operation “El Dorado Canyon” the 1986 attack on Libya.
