The Grumman A-6 Intruder became the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps front line all-weather/night attack aircraft. The Intruder’s longer range, capability to carry heavy weapon loads and its ability to fly in all weather conditions made it an important part of naval air tactics during the Vietnam War. The A-6 served in various roles for over thirty five years with the last Intruders retiring in 1997.This Marne Corps A-6 shows the markings of All Weather Attack Squadron VMA-242, stationed at Da Nang, South Vietnam, 1966.
