This P-47D Thunderbolt, Slick Chick, as flown by Lt. Col. Frank Perego of Canandaigua, New York. Col. Perego was the Commanding Officer of the 368th Fighter/Bomber Group from November 1944 to October 1945. This group known as the Panzer Dusters were most effective against German ground operations. Col. Perego flew 115 combat missions with two confirmed enemy aircraft in the air and one on the ground. The Group received a Presedential citation for destroying over 500 vehicles in one day. Col. Perego also commanded a fighter/bomber wing in Korea and personally flew 70 missions in F86F Sabre jet fighters. His decorations include DFC with bronze cluster, Legion of Merit, Air Medal with 18 Oak leaf clusters, French Croix de Guerre, anr the British DFC.
