U.S. Navy Attack Aircraft 1945-1962

This poster depicts the four important attack aircraft adopted by the U.S. Navy after World War 2. The Douglas AD Skyraider was designed to replace the SBD Dauntless and served in both Korea and Vietnam. The North American AJ Savage had both piston and jet engines and served well into the fifties. Douglas's A4 Skyhawk became one of the most versatile attack aircraft for both the Navy and Marines. The Grumman A6 Intruder saw much combat in Vietnam and this workhorse remained in service until 1997.
