The DC-6B was introduced in 1951. The engineers at Douglas stretched the DC-6 fuselage by six feet and added more powerful engines. With accommodations for 107 passengers the DC-6B turned out to be a serious competitor to the Lockheed 1049A Super Constellation on transcontinental routes.
