The Vought SB2U Vindicator was the U.S. Navy’s first monoplane dive bomber. The Vindicators of both Navy and Marine Corps bombing units saw extensive action in the beginning months of the War in the Pacific, including the historic naval engagement at Midway. After the Battle of Midway, all SB2Us were relegated to rear echelon duties. This SB2U-2 flew with VB-4 assigned to the USS Ranger, 1939.
