The Lockheed Viking was originally designed in the early 1970s to search-out and destroy enemy submarines. In 1996 the Viking’s mission had changed to surface warfare and aerial refueling. It also deployed as an electronic warfare and surface surveillance platform for the carrier group. The S-3B also saw combat in Operation Iraqi Freedom while making missile attacks at the port city of Basra. This Lockheed Viking served with VS-21 “Vikings” aboard the U.S.S. Constellation.
