The Boeing B-17 has become legend in the history of aerial bombardment. It created much excitement when first introduced to the public in 1935 and immediately acquired the name “Flying Fortress.” This B-17F is shown in the markings of the 94th Bomb Group, 331st Bomb Squadron. Captain Jack Sprentall stationed at Bury St. Edmunds Airfield, Suffolk, England in 1944, commanded the aircraft.
