Called the "Brisfit" by its crews, the F2B Bristol fighter was Britain's most successful two-place design of World War I. Powered by a Rolls Royce Vulture; the "Bristfit" was a surprisingly agile dogfighter. With both a forward firing gun and a rear gun, German pilots learned to give the "Brisfit" a wide berth. Brought into service in 1917, the F2B remained in front line service until 1932. Shown here is the F2B of Capt. William Staton and Lt. John Gordon of No. 62 Squadron, Planques, April 1918.
