The F-6 of the 160th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron flown by Lt. Elmer Pankratz, Penfield New York has a head-on encounter with a Messerschmitt 262 jet fighter over Germany in 1945. Lt. Pankratz flew 43 Combat Tactical Recon Missions many of these flights were flown for General’s Montgomery’s British Eighth Army. The F-6 was the armed photographic recon version of the North American P-51D Mustang.
