Shown in American Airlines livery, this very successful low wing, trimotor airliner was the product of the Stinson Aircraft Corporation of Wayne, Michigan. Designed in 1933, during the Great Depression, the Model A needed to be low priced and economical to operate. The first Model A flew on April, 27 1934 and was an immediate success. American Airlines purchased a fleet of Model As as fast feedliners taking advantage of their short field capability.
