This poster depicts four of the U.S. Army's early fighters flown in service between 1919 to 1930. The Thomas Morse MB-3 was the Army's first all American designed and built fighter. The PW-9 was Boeing's first fighter design. It incorporated the sesquiplane configuration similar to Germany's Fokker DVII. The Curtiss P-6E was not the best performing of the Curtiss Hawks but in the "Snow Owl " paint scheme it was the prettiest. The Boeing P-12 eptiomized the summit of biplane fighter development and is also Boeing's and the Army's last biplane fighter.
